Are you a filament fan? Want to make your own color? Here's your chance!

Join us December 15th to design and make your own filament color.

As part of Protopasta's 10th Birthday and Open House, we're inviting 18 individuals to workshop their own filament color with us in person.

Purchase to book a 20 minute time slot to make your own filament.

After your purchase, we'll email a survey to learn about the color you want to make so we're prepared for our 20 minute session.

Purchase separately. Not for combination with other products.

Shipping

We provide a number of domestic shipping options within the United States via UPS, including free shipping on orders of $50 or more. We also provide international shipping via DHL Express.

Returns

At ProtoPlant's discretion, returns and replacements will be accepted within 90 days of purchase.  Please check the material label before opening your product.  Only sealed product can be returned. Shipping of items for exchange or refund is paid by the customer. More information about returns and replacements can be found in our terms and conditions. 


Make your own custom, one-of-a-kind 3D printer filament!

Interested? Just choose a time, complete your purchase, complete our survey, and show up on time.

Flying in? PDX Airport is a short drive away. Heathman Lodge is one of many local lodging options.

You're booking a specific time slot, but please arrive at least 10 minutes early and be prepared to work on your color together for the allotted 20 minutes. 20 minute time slots are back-to-back, but should be plenty of time if you come prepared to help us understand your color goal.

You're purchasing a time-limited experience. If we figure out a color you like in the allotted 20 mintues, we'll make you 1 spool at no additional charge. If we don't figure out a color together (it happens), don't be too disappointed. We'll invite you to choose a spool from our shelves at no additional charge so you don't leave empty handed!

What we expect of you (this is a manufacturing facility):

  • Complete our safety waiver
  • Stay within designated areas
  • Wear provided PPE and follow safe practices
  • Be respectful of the space and follow directions
  • Be at least 16 years old (physically, kids at heart welcome)
  • Workshop is PLA only with on hand ingredients (no outside materials/mix-ins)

There will be plenty of opportunities for photos and fun. We want you to share the experience! Don't forget to tag us!!!

*BONUS* We'll record your recipe so we can reproduce it in the future. Whether it becomes a standard product or we grow to custom produce on demand, this workshop will help us create personalized products closer to your interests. How cool is that?

Anticipating Awesomeness

We haven't actually gotten to go yet (thanks Covid-19) but we are looking forward to our experience in June (fingers crossed). The customer service experience we've had so far with the Pasta Peeps has me so pumped for the actual event. My boyfriend is into 3D printing and is teaching me so I wanted to thank him with the full Pasta Experience. When I bought it, there was only one spot left. The Proto Pasta team were great and said I could still go, we'd just be limited to two spools of custom filament due to time and capacity constraints. This is awesome because we'll be able to do this together and have this great memory and two cool rolls of filament to share. Proto Pasta and their team rocks!

I haven't had the experience yet as it is in September. I am pretty stoked about attending though and then I will be happy to write a review of substance.

A very fun and interesting day!

Thanks so much to the proto-pasta staff for opening your home to me and teaching me about filament making! Definitely worth the trip and I hope to return someday for round two.

Those are some great colors and prints. Obviously you wouldn't be the first to come for a second or third trip. We'd love to have you back!

Tons of fun

Worth every penny. Super fun to make your own filament, meet other makers, and take a fun tour of the warehouse!

Awesome experience, great people!

I will try to list all of the great things that happened at this workshop (June 2019). 1) Laid back, fun and relaxing pace. 2) Friendly employees at Proto-Pasta. The best! 3) Got to meet and socialize with like-minded 3D printer enthusiasts. Coming from a smaller town, I rarely run into anyone that wants to talk about 3D printers. It was great to meet people from around the country and share projects with them. We even swapped filament samples with each other at the end, increasing the variety of cool prints when I returned home. 4) ...and of course you make rolls of your own custom filament using industry leading gear! Where else can you do this?!? 5) Get a peek behind the scenes and learn how its all made! 6) Great food and snacks. IF YOU GET A CHANCE, DO THIS!
