Protopasta wouldn't exist without our community. Kickstarted in 2013 by 500 community members (look at those young guys in the original kickstarter video) supporting our first three filaments, Protopasta has grown to offer nearly 200 filaments and serve 10s of 1000s of customers. While those numbers sound big, but we only serve a portion of the larger 3D printing community and make in a year what volume producers in Asia make in a month.
Being a 9 person specialty manufacturer, making only 10s of 1000s of kg of filament per year in Vancouver, WA USA, we've demonstrated price and volume aren't everything. We've shown unique, high value filaments, often made in close collaboration with our people, have their place. We're here for those that value what we do. Thanks to you!
Collaborating with the community is something we really enjoy. Being able to invite customers into our space to get hands on and create filament with us from scratch is very special. It gives new creative opportunity to collaborators and pushes us creatively as well. This month's colors are a beautiful example of our community collab and capabilities.
First, we have Blood Wine by community member Bob Karnes. This filament is a clone of Alien3D's Knight's Red War by Karl Brown (NAK3D). Knight's Red War is no longer made, but Bob wanted more so we cloned it! Bob says Protopasta's version is better than the original. We're glad to take his word for it! ;-) Below are some prints he made after prototyping it with us in one of our filament workshops.

Know a group of people who'd like to make filament with us or need a custom color for your business? Contact us.
Bob polled the community for a name and Blood Wine was the winner!!! It's fitting because it's a rich red like Blood of my Enemies. Similar to Heartthrob Red, but Blood Wine is even darker like Garrett's Chaos Red but with black fleck. Here's another look at Blood Red with a wild 3D Sets Reaper hot rod RC truck build by Steve Builds. What a beauty!!!

Our other two CORE colors come from a community member that very much shares our values. Sarah Rubio is a cherished fan + contributor and exemplifies our code of conduct. Here passion for perfection, positivity, and 3D printing are all evident in Filament Fiesta's posts. The range of colors and her love for color, we'll let's just say its another thing we have in common!
Sarah brought two filament ideas to us. The first is a color of her own interest justly called Fleck'n Fiesta Magenta. It's rich with glitter and looks like a yummy watermelon. Sarah is social and she couldn't help but bring up another color her community expressed interest in, so we create Lucky Lime Glitter Green as well. Together, these three colors seems like the perfect treat for this time of year.

In the spirit of Valentine's, I embraced these colors and took the opportunity to print an old favorite design of mine from the community, Maz's Flower. Maz has been a long-time fan and early collaborator, challenging us to make Mermaid's Tale Teal to match a favorite gel pen. MTT is one of the many community-inspired colors we've created over the years.

In compliment, we chose Tropical Palm Green, Gold Dust, and Candy Rainbow for subscribers to MORE, further-leaning into the St Patrick's Day theme. All-in-all, we hope you enjoyed the contents of this Endless PLA delivery and the inspiration behind it!
Take care and enjoy the pasta,
Alex and the Protopasta Team
3D Printing with Protopasta HTPLA
Like most other Protopasta PLA and HTPLA, we 3D printed at 240C nozzle and 55C plate at maximum volume rate of 12 mm3/s using the generic PLA profile on the Bambu P1S with a 0.4 steel nozzle. Find more material data listed here.
I can't wait to see what you print with these. Whatever you make, I hope you are inspired by these fun filaments! Tag Protopasta to show us what you make!!!
