Endless PLA #21 (October 2022) - More New Nebulas
We couldn’t leave well enough alone. More Nebulas had to be made, but what inspired the exploration that led to 6 new Nebulas?
Robert Harrison kindly reached out on behalf of a Cinderwing3D community member and friend, Nate, who had just lost his daughter, Bridget. Robert proposed a custom filament including Bridget’s favorite colors and in a shiny, opaque finish (result below). The described colors started to sound a lot like Nebula, but in a new finish, so I explored a range of variants based on Nebula.
Looking for meaning and finding inspiration keeps us creating. Through sorrow and success, creating carries us through. For those passed, we remember you and thank you for the memories that we bring along with us. For those here with us, we embrace the shared experience, support, and inspiration that community brings. These filaments are for you!
Dedicated to Bridget, Nebula Silver Silk (NSS) is, as the name suggests, silvery and silky thanks to an adequate addition of fine pearl. It has the blues, pinks, and purples you love but with a distinct silver undertone. (below left)
Nebula Cotton Candy Pastel (NCC) is like NSS, but instead of fine pearl, we add white. It is not shiny nor silver. It’s a creamy pastel reminiscent of cotton candy with some beautiful pale pinks, blues, and purples. #donteatthepasta ;-P (below middle)
Nebula Night Glow Fluorescent (NNG) is the last of our new Nebulas, and it’s probably the most unique. It uses a relatively new ingredient, fluorescent yellow, to both expand the colors within Nebula and make it UV reactive. You’ve gotta experience this one in the dark under blacklight! (below right)
Well that’s all the Nebulas I’ve got. For now at least… We really hope you enjoy them. Make wonderful creative things. Enjoy 3D printing and one another.
All our best and take care,
Alex and the Protopasta Team
