Endless PLA #44 (August 2026) - More Opaque Fluorescents

Endless PLA #44 (August 2026) - More Opaque Fluorescents

I couldn't help myself! I gave in to impulse. I HAD to finish the rainbow in opaque fluorescents!!! And you know what? I'm not sorry because it's a beautiful thing!

For June's Endless PLA, we shipped red, pink, and blue. You questioned my choices (heck, I questioned my choices) in calling red, red. Now we can all agree red looks more red when compared to orange, right? Dark orange you say? The label says red so that's what we're calling it... ;-P In any case, here are all the opaque fluorescents in daylight.

This month we filled in the rainbow with orange, green, and purple. We've had fluorescent yellow for a long time (before quantum dots) and now we have 7 opaque fluorescents! We're putting all of our color changing filaments in a collection together.

To recap, these are opaque and have lots of color in the daylight. This is in contrast to quantum dots which are translucent in daylight, hiding in plain sight until you turnout the lights and turn on the blacklight! Here's all the opaque fluorescents at night. BTW, did you notice red looks more red under blacklight? Just sayin'...

It hasn't gotten old yet. Seeing quantum dots light up is a shock! What a treat!!! If you want to see all the fluorescent eye candy, have a look at Kaizen3Dprints' experiments with our filament. He is so curious and creative! It's a joy to see what he makes with Protopasta and other filaments as well.

3D Printing with Protopasta

For Protopasta HTPLA (and PLA) on Bambu machines, I start with the Generic PLA settings and increase the nozzle temp from 220 to 240 for our HTPLA colors. Make sure the build plate is set to 55C and the maximum volume rate is limited to 12 mm3/s. Use 100% layer fan, but I recommend turning off auxiliary fans.

I can't wait to see what you print with these. Whatever you make, I hope you are inspired by these fun filaments! Tag Protopasta to show us what you make!!!
